Quote of the Week

"An honorable, God glorifying approach to work does not involve a continual obsession with productivity. We are called not only to be workers, but also to be children, spouses, parents, church members, citizens, and stewards of God's material gifts. God's call to us is to have the right attitude toward each role, resulting in the right priorities."

You read the most interesting books! I think I am still trying to figure out a definition of productivity and how it is, and should, be affected by physical and situational limitations.

I also wonder where in the life of constant activity there is the time to "be still and know that I am God".

Susan/Halfmom - if I read interesting books, it's probably because I'm impatient and not inclined to stay with a book for long if it doesn't catch my attention. Point of confession - I don't finish many books that I start... for instance, this one from Selvaggio - I only read it 1/3 through.

On the point you made - I often find the pace of my life so hectic that I do wonder if I am spending time being still and listening.

That's funny ESI - I feel almost obligated to finish a book if I, 1)purchased it, 2)started it. So I probably have few that I haven't finished. That being said, I haven't read nearly as many as I'd like to!!

As to a hectic life, I think mine was like that for so many years that I had to carve bits and pieces of quiet out of it. So now, I'm afraid that the pendulum has swung the other way. At times I remind myself a bit of that old saying, "so heavenly minded they're no earthly good" because I'd rather study than work.
