I think Jesus' high priestly prayer in John, chapter 17 sheds light on what it means to "know" the Father, since it is certainly more than knowing about the Father.

I remember years ago when I read this quote for the first time - it opened my eyes. I started seeing eternal life differently - as knowing God - starting now and through all eternity.
