"The gospel is so foolish (according to my natural wisdom), so scandalous (according to my conscience), so incredible (according to my timid heart), that it is a daily battle to believe the full scope of it as I should. There is simply no other way to compete with the forebodings of my conscience, the condemnings of my heart, and the lies of the world and the devil than to overwhelm such things with the daily rehearsings of the gospel."

I wonder what those rehearsings might look like.
there was a guy named eric fromm who wrote a book called the art of loving, in which he proposed that loving is as much an art as playing an instrument.
but the practice of an instrument is much simpler due to it being much less than its maker.
so again l.l. barkat has a good question what would the rehearsings of something so profound as the gospel look like?
is it that this falls into the category of spiritual illumination that is difficult to get from God who is yet generous without finding fault, or am i just an unemotional clod of a guy who would understand more the image of the rehearsings if i understood more of love from feelings if i had them?

Good question - I think he means a number of practices that will reinforce to us daily the remembrance of our sinful state apart from God, His redemption through the person and work of Jesus Christ, the resurrection of Jesus as confirmation of our atonement.
Would anyone like to share what their gospel rehearsings look like?

Ah, you seem too hard on yourself. ;-)
Perhaps meditating on scriptures that point to Christ's redemptive work is part of your spiritual regimen from time to time? If so, that would be the kind of rehearsing that is alluded to in Gospel Primer.
