Quote of the Week

"I think we delight to praise what we enjoy because the praise not merely expresses but completes the enjoyment; it is its appointed consummation."

C.S. Lewis , Reflections on the Psalms

Yes, I agree with him totally - and think of this comment when I think of things like the Blue Ridge Mountains and clear blue skys - how can I help but praise that which I adore and that which causes me then to remember the creator above the created.

Yes, thanks for sharing your example of seeing God in creation

The idea of praise completing or consummating our joy is also why singing songs in worship brings intense joy to the heart of a believer - it doesn't just express our delight in God but worship intensifies and consummates our joy in Him

I agree wholeheartedly. My daughter and I were talking tonight about what was the most "worshipful" for each of us and clearly worship and praise music is the highest on my list - it not only raises my soul to worship, it can drop me to my knees in tears and repentence faster than anything else.
